A tomboy at heart, she ignores her mother’s pleas to dress more appropriately. Until the son returns. A recent graduate of medical school, although handsome, the young doctor is stoic and obviously put out that his father has hired her to help his mother recuperate. Can they get past their first impressions?

New Release – Lois’s Risk

Lois's Risk CoverIn my first novel Rebecca’s Hope, I introduced colorful characters and innovative young women in a western town in the late 19th century. Lois’s Risk is a continuation of the tale based on Rebecca’s friend and dress shop owner, Lois Weaver.

Our story begins several months before Rebecca’s wedding and we focus on Lois whose choices in life go against nineteenth-century convention of how a woman should behave.

Lois Weaver has been schooled to be proper, lady-like, honest, to clean, sew and cook so at the appropriate age she would marry. As an adult, she surpassed her father’s expectations with her skills and beauty only to shatter them when she opens a dress shop. She’s worked hard making a success of her business. Now the handsome bank owner has come calling. So why isn’t she happy? Moreover, why can’t forget about a certain farmer with big brown eyes?

Daniel Lawrence former Texas Ranger gained immense satisfaction when he purchased his farm and livestock. His new way of life is not only a means to make a living but adds a sense of fulfillment. The only thing lacking is a wife and family. He is just shy of proposing when a family tragedy forces him to open his home to his grieving sister and her niece. How could he bring a new wife home to this?

Lois is heartbroken because Daniel is ignoring her. Can she go against the 19th-century rules of how a woman should behave and have the courage to tell Daniel how she feels?

Combining history, humor, and romance with an emphasis on faith, friends, and good clean fun, fans of historical romance set in late 19th-century will enjoy Lois’s Risk a delightful tale of courage and reminds us how God uses adversity to strengthen us and draw us closer to Him.

Emma’s Dream

From the land who introduced the Christmas tree, an old German superstition stated should a maiden wish to know if she’ll be married in the year, she should go out to the chicken coop on Christmas Eve and knock on the door. If she hears a rooster crow, she will. But if she hears a hen instead, she won’t.

Chicken coop

As a historical inspirational romance, one of my goals was to give an accurate account of the time period while exposing the inaccuracy in the quotes and beliefs in a humorous way.
This is a story of love that’s being tested by distance and has the perfect combo of love, faith and humor. A delightful read.

RED HEADED BOOK LOVER REVIEW OF REBECCA’S HOPE

Rebecca’s Hope, Kimberly Grist

Christian FictionLiterature & FictionRomanceWestern Fiction

Raised by her guardian and influenced by the mostly male population of Carrie Town Texas, Rebecca benefited from a forward-thinking, unorthodox education not typical for a young woman in the late Nineteenth century.

As an adult, she is armed with skills that most would covet, yet she lives in a boarding house, works as a waitress and struggles financially. Most single women in the area didn’t stay single long. Most, but not her. The one man she had said yes to was dragging his feet. The townspeople all agree she is in need of a husband. Even the young girls in her Sunday School Class have taken action by writing an ad for the paper.

Wanted: Husband for Rebecca Mueller. **Must be handsome, nice, like children, and live within walking distance of Carrie Town School.

Will her circumstances change and allow her to hold out for true love?

Rebecca’s Hope is a remarkable romance novel written by the talented and well-accomplished author Kimberly Grist and wow, what a story! Western fiction combined with a romance and Christian theme is my go to read and a read I love to get lost in. Rebecca’s Hope is a western romance tale, and the story that unfolds throughout the book is captivating and kept me hooked for hours! This is thanks to the well-developed plot and phenomenal literature courtesy of Kimberly Grist whose literature is stunning, and full of believable and likable characters. I have read many romance novels but never before have I been so captivated by a story as I have been with Rebecca’s Hope. I believe this is because there is something different about this book, something unique and special and I felt this as soon as I started to read it as its stunning nature shines off the page and into the reader’s heart.

Rebecca’s Hope is a breathtaking novel that will introduce the reader to the protagonist of the story, Rebecca Mueller. Rebecca is a young woman living in the late 19th century, and she is in a slight predicament. Rebecca ‘lives in a boarding house, works as a waitress and struggles financially’ and she is single. Women in this era do not usually stay single for long; however, Rebecca is yet to find her perfect match and so she is on the lookout for a husband. The reader will follow Rebecca as she tries to find a husband and this book lovers is the premise of the incredible Rebecca’s Hope.

Rebecca’s Hope is a gem of a book that I needed to read. For so long I have read books that are quite oppressive so to read a novel that yes, features a few poignant themes but tastefully and compellingly was refreshing! Besides the journey, the reader encounters is a mesmerizing one, and I loved following the protagonist of the novel on her journey. Rebecca’s Hope indeed was a heart-warming read; although know book lovers that Rebecca’s Hope is not all lovey-dovey; there are some poignant themes and even thrilling themes that kept me reading for hours on end, so Rebecca’s Hope truly is a unique tale!

Rebecca’s Hope is a multi-layered novel full of many exciting and lovely themes and all the themes explored throughout Rebecca’s Hope and these themes combined make the book a sensational story that is fascinating as well as captivating.

Rebecca’s Hope is full of twists and turns galore, the book and the story that unravels is thrilling and will keep your hearts racing, and there are a few moments which will definitely evoke certain feelings in its readers. I love how the author kept me on edge constantly and made me feel a host of different emotions; Grist is an exceptional writer because she knows just how to captivate her readers and keep them engrossed from beginning to end.

The author Kimberly Grist can only be described as a literary artisan. Writing for me is an art form, it is much of an art as beautiful renaissance sculptures, paintings and wonderfully executed movies that excite the viewer. The objective of any great writer is that of an artist; it is to communicate a message and to delight the recipient whether that be the listener, the viewer or the reader… in this case the reader. Grist has wonderfully charmed me and has communicated the novel’s message to me soundly and perfectly. This is why I am in such awe of her, she is a creative genius and a visionary thinker that is also passionate and articulate and this, in my opinion, is a hard balance to find these days in the art of literature.

Kimberly Grist is a talented wordsmith; her brilliant story combined with her flawless narration amazed me and had me turning the pages with haste. Grist’s sensational book is perfect and makes for a brisk, steady read that is full of twists and turns galore. I adore her plot device of twists and turns as they kept me intrigued and ensured that I never once got bored.

Overall Rebecca’s Hope is a truly spectacular novel full of many beautiful moments and brilliant intrigue, and so I have no choice but to award this stellar book a dazzling five stars! It is a truly exceptional novel, and it would be a crime not to read it, so please read the preview below as I promise you will be captivated to read this exceptional story! What Inspires You?

I was recently asked an interesting question. What inspires you? Without really giving it thought, I answered jokingly, coffee and chocolate. My husband can attest that I am not a morning person, so it is true the thought of a good cup of joe motivates me when the annoying sound of the alarm clock doesn’t. I probably don’t even need to explain the magnetic force of chocolate.

But what really inspires me is everyday people who overcome obstacles with grace and dignity. My seven year old nieces’ artwork sums it up nicely, Dream Big, Spred Joy. Although her spelling may not be her strong suit yet, Ali is inspiring. She is witty, artistic, has an amazing vocabulary and prays so fervently, she causes chills to run up and down my arm. Like many precocious children,  you never know what she will say next. She is an exceptional young lady, a force to be reckoned with and I am a better person for knowing her. She is also legally blind. What about you? What inspires you?

The Journey Begins

Thanks for joining me!

Author Bio: Kimberly Grist is married to her high school sweetheart, Nelson, who is a pastor in Griffin, Georgia. She and her husband have three adult sons, one with Down syndrome, and she has a passion to encourage others in offering a special needs ministry in the church. Kim is also a grandmother and proud to be a child of the living God. She feels called to help and encourage others and to share experiences both good and bad in order to be the witness that God would have us to be.

Kim has enjoyed writing since she was a young girl, however, began writing her first novel in 2017. Inspired by so many things life has to offer one of which includes her oldest son’s diagnosis of cancer she finds it especially gratifying to write a happy ending. “Suffering is, of course, is my least favorite thing. My objective is not to discuss my struggles specifically but to combine a love of history with biblical principles to produce a historical Christian based story that shows how God uses adversity for our good in ways we may never expect.”

“He has shown you, O mortal, what is good. And what does the Lord require of you? To act justly and to love mercy and to walk humbly with your God.” Micah 6:8
